IFSA FIRE PREVENTION WEEK LUNCHEON

Each year the Alliance hosts the annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon at which time recognition is give to those fire departments judged to have outstanding fire prevention programs. Recognition is also given to individuals and businesses who demonstrate significant contributions in the area of fire and burn prevention.

The 68th Annual IFSA Fire Prevention Week Luncheon was held on October 8, 2009 at the Signature Room, Lisle.

WAYNE LUECHT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

On June 11, 1999, Northbrook Fire Department Assistant Chief Wayne Luecht was critically burned from an electrical explosion. He succumbed to his injuries on June 21, 1999. In recognition and honor of Wayne Luecht’s many years of dedication to fire/burn prevention work the IFSA is offering this educational scholarship award.

The Illinois Fire Safety Alliance feels that this scholarship will provide an opportunity and learning experience for individuals involved in the fire and burn prevention field. The actual award will be presented at the annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon. The impetus behind this award is to provide an advanced learning opportunity for the fire/burn prevention professional.

Anyone interested in applying for this award shall submit a letter to the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance highlighting your dedication, experience, and accomplishments within fire/burn prevention education.

If you feel someone else has made a difference in preventing fire loss and injuries, you may submit a nomination for this award.

APPLICATION RULES
  1. Essay will need to be submitted by applicant or nominator highlighting their dedication, experience and accomplishments within fire/burn prevention.
  2. Application/Essay must be received by the IFSA no later than August 15 of the currrent year.
  3. The award will be offered to the candidate whose dedication most closely resembles the mission of the IFSA.
  4. The recipient of this award will receive a grant covering expenses to attend a nationally recognized conference/seminar, approved by the IFSA, to further their fire safety and burn prevention education mission.
  5. All grants to attend school/conference expire three (3) years from the award date.





GET FIRED UP ABOUT FIRE SAFETY AWARD

This award is presented annually at the Fire Prevention Luncheon to an individual and/or department that has successfully implemented the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s "GET FIRED UP ABOUT FIRE SAFETY" (GFUAFS) curriculum in their school system.

Some of the criteria to receive this award is:

  • Letter to be submitted by applicant or nominator highlighting the applicant’s use of GFUAFS.
  • Application must contain a letter of recommendation from appropriate Department Official.
  • Name of individual/department who nominates applicant.
  • Submit a report to the IFSA office which includes a review of pre/post tests and responses to all questionnaires and opinionnaires upon completion of the program.
  • Send a summary of the questionnaires and opinionnaires to the IFSA office.
  • The award will be offered to the individual or department whose program most closely resembles the intended use of the GFUAFS curriculum.

***Anyone wishing to apply for this award or wanting to nominate someone shall submit a letter to the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance highlighting the accomplishments of the individual or department with reference to the use of GFUAFS by August 15th of the current year.
